Last week we asked you to give us your top eye makeup tips. Here's our pick of the best:
1. Gently heat eyelash curlers with a hair dryer before using, the heat makes your eyelashes really defined and they keep their curled shape all day .... its great for a touch of Hollywood glam! X (mandyo1)
2. My tip for eyes is to use a hard black liner, wave it over a flame for a second til it softens, then apply in a line along top lashes. Smudge with a cotton bud to give a smokey effect. Hard pencils stay put so much longer than soft khol pencils. (feefeedee)
3. Place some loose powder under your eyes when you apply eyeshadow so that after application you can brush away any shadow that falls down onto your cheek. (divalicious)
4. Before you sharpen your eye pencils, pop them in the fridge for an hour or so. They're easier to sharpen and you'll have a nice pointy tip. It doesn't leave as much gunk in your sharpener and works for all make up pencils :) (jaynib)
5. If my eyes are slightly puffy i put 2 teaspoons in the fridge and put them over my eyes and this cools them down and reduces the puffiness almost immediately. (susansullivan)
6. When concealing dark circles under the eyes, don't cover the entire under eye area - just the dark curved line. It looks far more natural. Also try concealing over the upper lid area as well, especially near the nose, where there tends to be dark veiny skin. This will give a nice even base for applying eyeshadow, especially lighter shades. (jaynehyman)
7. Relax for ten minutes with a thin slices of potato under your eyes. The potassium helps to reduce dark circles and eye bags. Quick, cheap, convenient and very effective. (dragonfly63)
8. Mascara's should be changed every 3 or 4 months. To test whether yours is still 'fresh' it should make a 'pop' noise when you take the brush out of the tube. If it doesn't, throw it away and get another, you don't want to end up with any nasty eye infections. (mrsj2008)
9. To make your mascara last longer, when it starts to dry up - put the mascara in a jug of hot (but not boiling) water, then put a couple of tiny drops inside and mix with the wand. (jenscrimshaw)
10. Always apply your mascara to your bottom lashes first and then the top ones. That way you don't get mascara on your lids as you look up to apply it to the top lashes. Holding a hand mirror above your head makes you look up too. (virgingoddess)
11. Dark eyeshadows work great as eyeliners. Wet a slanted brush, then dip in a dark eyeshadow. Line eyes as close to the upper lashes as possible from the inner corner to the outer corner. Follow with liner on bottom eyes, but only line from the middle of the eye out. Smudge the bottom line with a Q-tip or your finger. You don't want a prominent line. For a smokey eye, use a brush to pat in a dark eyeshadow along the upper lid and below the lid. You don't want a stark line, instead you want to blend it so it's 'smudge-y.' (stephwright85)
