Jonathan Soons answers your questions about hair colouring

Jonathan Soons answers your questions about hair colouring

You asked: Any tips on how to make your hair colour look more vibrant?

Jonathan answered: The Vitamino colour range from L'Oreal Série Expert works wonders, and make sure you do a mask once a week it maintain the colour in your hair.

You asked: How can I lighten my dark red hair to a light auburn?

Jonathan answered: When going lighter, I can only give one word of advice: go see a pro, it will only need a little amount of lifting and then a colour to match what you want. It will be worth it in the end.

You asked: Does dying your hair make it fall out?

Jonathan answered: No, over bleach can thin your hair cuticle, but like things in moderation, over doing it with full head bleach can cause the odd problem. If you are worried, go to a salon the uses Inoa colour. It is the most advanced colour around, it's oil based too so it conditions your hair at the same time.

You asked: When your highlights/streaks grow out, should you stick with having the same colours put back in?

Jonathan answered: Yes it will make your hair look more even, but having roots is very cool now, and lighting the ends to give that model beach look that is bang on trend. The Balayage tehnique works wonders for this.

You asked: I've been going slowly grey since 21, and the hairs stick up. Any tips?

Jonathan answered: Kerastase has just the range for those silly little hairs, because the grey hair has become a different texture they like to stand out, Kerastase Age Premium has the shampoo and the and styling products to pick out those fellas and condition them to match the rest.

You asked: What is the best hair dye for very black hair?

Jonathan answered: A professional range will always be the best, so the colour doesn't go matte in any way.

I'm probably 100% grey now, (Not that i've checked recently).  I swapped to semi-permanent colour, because I felt the colour was getting too dark.  Then, I gave myself some "golden" highlights, and then semi-permanent with a tone probably several shades lighter than I was.    The darkness seems to have lifted, but is this the best way for me to treat my poor hair.  I just don't want to be Grey and drab.
