WHATS THE BEST WAY TO APPLY LIQUID FOUNDATION?
I agree with others that sponge is the best foundation applicator but you use too much quantity. Another way which my mum taught me was to take the amount of foundation you need in your palm and mix it well with a drop of moisturiser and apply from middle to sides of the face, USING CLEAN FINGERS. This gives you even and natural finish. I use liquid foundation in winters and mineral foundation in summers. x
I totally agree with Bond7224 - a good coverage of moisturiser applied to the face and neck and apply liquid foundation using a sponge! This way you'll get good, even coverage without having the dreaded tide marks! Just make sure the foundation is close to your natural skin tone x
I don't usually use liquid any more, as have converted to mineral make-up. However, I was taught the "Clarins" way years ago, and find it gives the sheerest cover : warm a few drops of liquid makeup between the palms of your hands, them apply hands flat to face and smooth outwards from middle to hairline and under chin - this removes risk of "tidelines" and warming foundation blends it into skin more evenly. Finish by smoothing with fingertips ( still with traces of foundation on them) under eyes and around nose.
I personally think using clean fingers after applying a good moisturiser is the best way as using a sponge tends to apply it a bit streaky and also I've found that i use a lot more using a sponge (approx 2 pumps applyed to the back of my hand where i only use less than 1 using fingers!). I use light upward strokes starting from my nose and working outwards. It works for me anyway! :0)
