Veet " Touchably Smooth" epilator
Veet “Touchably Smooth” main epilator: 8/10 points
Packaging: attractive pink & silver box, which makes product look very girly. When unpacked, there is a pink & white zip-bag to pack everything into for storage.
Aspect of epilator: The Veet epilator is rounded and shaped to fit comfortably into the palm of the hand. The rubber side panels prevent any slipping, and the press-button speed control is easily accessible. The cable is long enough to reach all parts of the body without problem. However, it is a pity that the adapter is so heavy, as this makes the epilator a little less travel-friendly. When will we see a battery-operated epilator along the lines of an electric toothbrush?
Usage: The Veet is slightly less noisy than other epilators I have used, and the vibrations are much lower. There are 2 speeds: fast for those used to epilation, medium for more sensitive people or first-timers. The incurved head means that it adapts well to body curves, including difficult areas like the shinbone. 90% of hair is removed in first passage, including very short and fine hairs.
The epilator comes with 2 zone caps for the head – wide for legs and arms, narrow for underarms and bikini line, and these are easily interchanged by pressing buttons on each side of the head. The head itself can be detached from the body and washed (the body itself is not waterproof and must never be immersed in water). It also comes with a brush to remove hairs from the head, which should be cleaned after each use.
The pack also contains a bottle of “Pre-Epilation Comfort Spray” to numb skin before epilation.
Results: I found the Veet epilator quick and effective at removing hair, better than my usual epilator.
As I have been removing hair this way for over 15 years, I am not aware of any pain, and indeed use my epilator for all areas of the body, including for Brazilian bikini lines. Therefore, I did not use the Comfort Spray on my legs. However, I felt that I should test the product, to see if people that are more sensitive would benefit from it, and applied spray to one underarm and to the bikini area (this last by spraying onto cotton wool first).
The spray smells very strongly of camphor and menthol, and must be left on the skin to dry for a couple of minutes before using the epilator. On the armpit, I did not really notice any difference in pain sensation, but then I am used to removing hair there. However, on the bikini area, the skin was definitely less sensitive and the spray made epilation much less painful. On the down side, I found that the effect of the spray remained for quite a while ( there is a cold sensation on the skin ), even after washing the area ( which you are advised to do, to remove residue) and I am not sure how suitable this spray would be for someone with sensitive skin – I found that my deodorant ( which is specific for post- epilation/shaving) actually stung a bit, which it normally never does. So a patch test is clearly necessary before using the spray.
The Veet epilator is a good product, and I would certainly recommend it. Will it convert epilator-novices? Well, you are stilling ripping the hairs out by the roots, and this will always be too painful for some people, but the spray does make a difference, and I have found over the years that hair grows back less when removed with an epilator.
Wow the spray sounds great and interchangeable heads too, they have come a long way since they first come out. I would love to have the opportunity to try this out. Shaving always produces a stubble which is uncomfortable and itchy, creams always seem so messy. I believe the hair grows back finer which sounds great to me.
I would love to try this product. I have never used an epilator before but I am not happy with the results of any of the other hair removal tecniques that I've used before (shaving, creams, waxing or pads) they either don't remove all the hair or I end up with ingrowing hairs, dry skin and rashes. So I would love to give this product a go. Please consider me to try one out and report back to all our members xx
i would really love to try this product, i have never used an epilator and this looks like a good place to start, i have trouble shaving my legs as i get a small amount of eczema on my knees which i always end up catching when shaving, so i am not always willing to shave my legs and dread it each time i need to, i also tried waxing as an alternative but this did not work, too fiddly and i did not get my legs hair free, so please please could i try this product, thank you.
Aww this is something that I would really like to try and get used to because Ive had enough of shaving it takes loads of time I cut my self 8/10 times and the shaving gel plus razors are just too expensive and If I use the cheeper once then I look like a plucked chicken lol my skin is left with a dotty red shaving rash so its either look like a chicken or listen to the other half moaning about the price of our toiletries haha I did get a cheap epilator from argos but when ran It up my leg and got used to the pain I didnt even feel a difference my leg was still really prickly and I knew that it was the fact it was a cheapy because my step mum uses a good branded one and her legs are lovely and smooth. So PLEASE let me try one of these I would really appreciate it. Sorry for the eesay :) <3 x
I am a shaver of the legs and arms. Sometimes I have been known to pluck bikini line strands out with tweesers but have yet to wax or use an elilator. I would like to try this to see just how painful it is and if they really work. The idea of a numbing cream sounds great.
Please think of me to join the trial
Thanks
I have never been brave enough to try an epilator, but recently I have been reading that using one of these is actually good for your skin, unlike shaving there is less of a chance of getting those uncomfortable little ingrown hairs that can be so painful.I would really like to try one, if I am not picked for the test I will keep my eyes peeled for the reviews and then make my decision.
