Jergens Cocoa Butter Replenishing Body Moisturiser £4.99 See the Jergens website for stockists.

There is just so much more to the new Jergens Naturals Cocoa Butter Body Moisturiser than the elegant cream-coloured tube with the dark brown cocoa leaf.

First of all, when you flip the cap back, the aroma of sweet coconuts envelopes your senses, and as you close your eyes, you can almost picture a vast isolated beach with turquoise-coloured water lapping at the shores while a lovely warm breeze tickles the fronds on the palm trees.  A large towel beckons you, and in your musings, you’re reaching for one of those delicious tropical drinks served in coconut shells… and wondering why it’s just you, the beach, the turquoise water, the palm trees, the towel and the drink.  Where’s the hunky lifeguard?

Fantasies aside… moving it along…

A gentle squeeze is all it takes.  I tell you this because my first squeeze was not so gentle, and my 7-year-old Scottish Border Terrier got hit by a creamy projectile and darted out of the room making a very strange screeching noise.  Catching up with him in the kitchen [obviously I wasn’t going to leave the dollop of cream on his head], I cleaned him off and leaned forward to sniff him [which he seemed to find most peculiar]… ahhhh… coconuts.  He’d never smelled so yummy.

Second try, I squeezed out only a tiny amount, and gently rubbed the small dollop of moisturiser on the top of my hand.  The colour, a pale cream that is just a shade lighter than the colour of the tube, is very appealing, but not more so than the texture of the cream itself which is incredibly smooth and silky, and doesn’t just sit on the skin like most other moisturisers… this one, I noticed, was quickly absorbed and I could see and feel the difference immediately.  My skin was incredibly soft, and actually looked soft, too.

Reading the information found on the rear of the tube, I followed the directions and smoothed the moisturiser evenly all over my body.  Although I don’t have particularly dry skin, the moisturiser was quickly absorbed and I noticed that my skin felt plumper and looked so much healthier and softer.  Truly an indulgence… for the senses… but also for the touch because my skin had never felt so silky soft.

24hrs later, my skin still feels silky smooth, and although the scent didn’t last as long, it remained long enough last night to coax me into a fitful slumber with tropical dreams… still minus the lifeguard, though.

Containing 96% natural ingredients such as Cacao Seed Butter, Palm Kernel Glycerides, Cacao Extracts and Jojoba Esters, it also has the added benefit of vitamin E which is particularly good in reducing the appearance of scars and blemishes.  I should add, however, that according to the ‘Nutritional Supplements Guide’, research showed that up to 1/3 of patients that applied a cream with Vitamin E developed allergic reactions.  Therefore, before giving yourself an entire body overhaul, try a bit of the moisturiser on your hands first.

Looking this product up on the Boots website, I noticed that the price for a 200ml bottle was only £4.99.  That’s a fantastic price considering it doesn’t take much for a truly indulgent full-body coverage.

My only gripe with this product, and the reason why I have deducted points off the rating, is, oddly enough, because of the scent.  Yes, I stated above that the scent is incredibly nice, delicious and dreamy, but it’s such a strong scent that it turns your expensive Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel and Escada perfumes into something resembling incense sticks.  Therefore, although I love the smell, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

I would like to thank TalkPerfection.com for giving me the opportunity to test this product… I absolutely love it, and have decided to make it a permanent part of my moisturising routine on those days when perfume isn’t on the agenda.

8/10
