Review of e.l.f. Mineral Foundation

Seakay

e.l.f. Mineral Foundation, £3.50 from eyeslipface.co.uk

I stopped using powder some years ago because it started to create dry spots on my skin and even flaking around my nose towards the end of the day. When the mineral powders first appeared I got what I suppose you would call a mid price one (seemed expensive to me!) but found exactly the same problems as I had with face powder - skin looked dry and aged and started to flake in patches towards the end of the day.

I chose to test the E.L.F. mineral foundation in Light, and the first bit of good news is that the colour was exactly as pictured and described – golden meant golden and not orangey!

I've now worn the foundation for four days in a row. It provides light cover – not covering flaws but evening out skin tone without creating a blank mask. You could wear this without blusher at a pinch. There have been absolutely no problems with dryness or with flaking skin. The powder is very finely milled and easy to apply. It is important to apply moisturiser and let it sink in first; then apply the mineral foundation with a very gentle tapping motion (a bit like stencilling!) and then smooth it with circular sweeps of the brush. I have found that it stays in place all day, and even the recent humid weather didn't cause it to clog.

I am absolutely amazed at the quality, especially considering the price. It's really easy and quick to use - literally seconds to apply once you have the hang of it. I've already recommended it to two friends who have problems with allergies and have to be careful to avoid parabens etc.

As I really can't think of anything bad to say about it, 10 out of 10!
