My review - e.l.f. Mineral Infused Face Primer

Sam-Hay

e.l.f. Mineral Infused Face Primer, £6.00 from eyeslipface.co.uk

elf Face PrimerI’ve now been using the ELF Face Primer for just over a week – and I have to say, I’m impressed.

I was a bit wary at first – when I pumped the product out, it looks like a hair serum and I thought it would be really sticky, and really wasn’t looking forward to putting it on my face.  But when I did, I was amazed that it sinks into your skin really well and dries really quickly to a matte finish.  A couple of minutes after applying it, it was completely dry and ready for me to put my make up on top.

The first couple of times, I applied my make-up without an additional moisturiser over the primer to try it that way.  My make-up applied easily with a good coverage and looked smooth and even.  When I got home from work that day, I expected my make-up to have worn off a fair bit, but surprisingly, it still looked pretty good – a little shine, but less than I would normally expect after a full day at work.

When I tried applying moisturiser as well as the primer, my make-up didn’t seem to “stick” as well, it seemed to wear off a little more – whether that’s co-incidence I don’t know, but since then, I’ve used the primer each time without additional moisturiser and it’s been as good since as it was the first time.

I have to say, I’m really pleased with this product and would recommend it.  My skin isn’t good enough to not wear make-up so I’m not sure how effective it is at making the skin tone more even without the need to wear make-up, but I would definitely buy it to wear under make-up.

Thanks for the great review. It seems odd to me that you would apply moisturiser over a primer - did it recommend to do that? I always apply my moisturiser before I prime, leave it a few minutes to sink in, then apply primer followed by foundation.
