longer hair

magjulee

Now I have grown my hair to shoulder length,I have to tie it up for working in labs. But I am finding the hair on the left side of my head is breaking. I use proper hair scrunchies and keep my hair well conditioned. What can I do? Im going to be half bald at this rate.I dont pull it back  overtight either.

Dear magjulee

Healthy hair growth is related to many factors as we get older including; adequate diet, hair styling and lifestyle,  all of which can impact hair condition, strength and growth. I am wondering if there is any particular reason why it is only the hair on the left hand side of your head?  Is this where you wear your scrunchie?  You could try Wellwoman Tricologic® which has been scientifically formulated to provide a complete spectrum of 26 nutrients, including biomarine collagen, L-Cystine and special plant derived nutrients, which play a role in scalp health and hair follicle metabolism to help maintain healthy hair growth. Should your condition still show no improvement you should visit your tricologist or GP.

Instead of using scunchies buy some pins 4 buns, wrap hair around in a bun and stick the pins to hold the bun together.

hi to everyone

I think that as I'm getting older my hair is brittle and i have been using a leave in conditioner which seem's to really help and gettin it cut every couple of months. Hope this helps.

I wear a hair net and hat when working in food labs (i agree not very glam!), but just tie it up when in chemistry and microbiological labs.I am right handed and wonder if thats what i am doing. Not in much contact with many chemicals so wouldnt think its environmental.Thank you all ladies for your advice.

Hi, I'm not expert on hair although I have had my har long for more years than I care to remember. Just wondering if perhaps you are pulling your back too tight? If you are right handed I find that when tying my hair up it is easy to pull the left side that much tighter as you pull at the back of your head (hope you see what I mean!). Maybe this will help.

It sounds like a tricologist expert might be useful here. What kind of labs are you working in? By a total coincidence I used to work in chemistry type labs- probably done a whole world of damage to my hair. Could it be environmental?

Any other ideas?

Hi magjulee,

I'm not an expert on haircare but I did wonder if you could wear a hair net when in the lab instead? I know it wouldn't look as pretty though!
