Hi all, I'm Joanne, 38.  After a terrible marriage I finally met a man I didn't want to run from. He's quite a bit younger than me and I'm increasingly aware that I'm getting older.  So make-up and health advice has never been more important to me.

I love the tips and news feeds on this site and talking to real women with similar challenges is so refreshing.  I hope you're all well and after a quick scan of a few of the links here I'm going to spare some time to look around  the rest of the site.

This seems to be a very welcoming community and I like the friendly atmosphere.  Thanks for having me.

Hi all, I just stumbled upon this site.  I was 40 a few months ago and am slowly realising I'm not getting any younger, with health problems, skin and hair not quite what they were, even my nails have given up on me!

I'm looking forward to reading the reviews and blogs and finding out from real people what really works.

Hi I'm Helen,

I'm 31 years young, have three girls aged 5 7 and 9 and have been with my husband for 11 years, although we've only been officially married since the 8/8/8  (my husband provisionially booked it three weeks before due to a cancellation I presume so I couldn't refuse lol). I work as a part time cleaner and love the fact my husband works nights for the indulgence of a double bed to myself and the fact he snores means even more of a bonus.

We rarely go out (kids are soo expensive) and our limited social life tends to involve the children which means unless we stumble across a time machine to send us to future when the girls have moved out or we win the lottery we know won't change but obviously don't mind. I am always friendly to all until given a reason not to be and will be a constant visitor to this site so ello all and type soon xxxxx

Heya!

I am new here and never been on a site like this before it seems jam packed full of opportunities and information.

I am a woman who love to try new things and tell people all about them whether they are good or bad I am very honest!

I love reading, entering competitions, playing pool, going to the pub and walking my Jack Russell Archie.

I am also planning my wedding so I am keeping my eyes open for any bargains or opportunities that may come in useful from decorations to make up!

I look forward to getting to know the site a little better.

I love to wear make up and refuse to be like other pensioners.  People do not believe me when I tell them my real age.

glad to hear it! age is not a barrier for anything I to wear make-up all the time and try all the new colours -ok some are not what i would wear out but if you put them on subtly makes an amazing difference

hi everyone,

im janis and am 43.

i have just had a look at this site and love it, as it is about my favourite subjects, beauty and make up.

i had to have a hysterectomy recently, due to this my skin has changed dramatically, going from oily combination, to very dry, so any advice from you ladies as to what skin care products etc, would be much appreciated. i have also have trouble with foundations so help there would be helpful too

Hi Janis, Great to have you as part of this community! I wrote in the Juice Bar forum about mineral makeup, and would love to hear your thoughts. As Barbara (euterpe13) said, you buff the minerals into your skin so they meld into your skin rather than sitting on top and blend well into dry areas. On the skin care front I've heard many women recommending pure oils instead of cream moisturisers. Maybe something like Almond Oil or Shea Oil would be an idea...?

Welcome Janis! It's so lovely to see so many new faces on the community. Can I recommend you ask your questions to Janey Lee Grace, this month's resident health expert. She'll be able to give you some really great advice. Jenny x

Hi

I'm ally121, and have really enjoyed looking over this site.  I too, am very interested in skincare, makeup and making the best of what we have.  I also like to know about the latest developments with vitamins and skincare and am mainly interested in looking and feeling a lot younger than my age.  My job is in beauty therapy and aromatherapy so I hope I can maybe be of help in those areas.  Feel free to ask me anything and I look forward to chatting with you

Hi, I'm Lind, 47, mum of 2 (one 28 one 9!) gran to 1 (3). I've just recieved my pack of perfectil!.. The pack says to take them with main meal, so roll on Tea time!! I see that they contain 87% of the iron recommendation =. Great as I am anemic, and so TIRED. Been on iron from the GP first lot brought my skin in in the most horrendous rash, which turned to something like excema. The second lot was vile. Then I couldn't get an appointment so even see the doc, so brought Iron from boots! Loking forward to seeing what these do! Hoping that by next week I will like 20 again, be full of energy and radiant........well, maybe a tall order!

Hi everyone

My name is Tanya and I will be 42 years old on the 23rd Feb

Hi Tanya I also went through an early menopause at 42, only 2 years after giving birth to my first child - so didn't really have time to have any more, but she is sooo gorgeous. I will be very interested to find out how the perfectil helps yours skin. The menopause really takes it toll on your skin, but keep taking the perfectil - I'm sure it will help and also the menopace - it helped me so much. I'm sorry I missed the perfectil trial because I'm sure it would've helped my skin but I will see be interested to follow how it works for you. Best Wishes Ally121

Hi, I'm Paula and received Perfectil today. A little confused as I don't know how many to take each day? Can you help?
ally121
ally121 (1 year ago)
-
Hi Paula You should take two tablets a day with your main meal. Wash the tablets down with a full glass of water just before eating. Don't take them first thing in the morning on an empty stomach as this can cause you to feel unwell. Taking it with the water just before your main meal will ensure full absorption of the nutrients and bring the maximum benefits. Good luck. Ally121

Hi everyone i'm kerri, 32yrs have 3 beautiful kids. I signed up to this site because i'm now beginning to realise that my skin is starting to show slight signs of aging, I've tried a lot of different creams ect but as my skin is quite oily, some creams are just too rich and clog my pores, i've always had black circles around my eyes and used eye cream since early twentys. I love to take care of my skin and keeping wrinkles less noticable is a must for me.

Hi Everyone

Just had a call from Louise letting me know I'd been accepted for the trial.  I'm Julia, live in Scotland (been here 23 years) originally from sunny Essex! Still have my Cockney accent too.

Two grown up children, one in Japan, one in Glasgow. Still working as a teacher, but keep hoping to win the lottery so I can retire early; no luck as yet.

55 now, so need all the help I can get to not end up a raddled old hag!

Hi Everyone

Im Kelly 41yrs Old.  I have 2 grown up kids, 3 Grandchildren, 1 Husband, 2 dogs and a ferret !

I found over the years my skin has become very dry & dehydrated. I've tried almost every kind of face cream over the years, from the cheaper Nivea, Olay, No7, to the more expensive Clinique, ROC, Clarins. The ONLY cream I've found that gives my skin the moisture it needs is Lancome Hydrogen Range. Its expensive at £30 but so far I've found nothing that leaves my skin soft, nourished & glowing.

Other than Lancome, I found within an hour-3hours, my skins looking dull, feeling tight & dry  again.

Does anyone have similar skin problems ? Have you found anything that works you can reccomend ?

Have you tried any of the liz earle creams? The superskin concentrate and superskin moisturiser are great. They are not the cheapest but they do trial sets which are a great way to try the creams. I love them.

Hi, I am Judith, aged 53. I live in Leicestershire, have been married 32 years and have two grown-up children, a girl of 27 and a boy of 23.  They still live at home with us (though saving for their own property) and no sign of any grandchildren yet!

I enjoy cruising and we have visited some marvellous places and met some great people that way!  I like the dressing up for dinner bit, and getting a chance to wear some glam frocks!  We enjoy a bottle of wine on some evenings during the week, and like to get away for the odd weekend as a treat throughout the year.

I am hoping that I have inherited my paternal grandmother's genes, as she looked fabulous right into her 90s, always about 20 years younger than she actually was. I try to keep the same shape I have always been, but it is certainly harder as you get older!  I seem to be coping with the menopause remarkably well, luckily, just a few hot flushes that come and go in 90 seconds - have not needed HRT so far!
