Fake Your Tan trial! [Now Closed]

Jenny_L

Hands up those of you with orange hands and streaky tans! Yes, I thought there might be a few of you. Well this post is for you.

Lee Stafford has just launched Fake My Tan, a product that could give you the perfect instant tan you've been looking for all along. The new range of sprays, matt lotions, lotions with added bling and mousses are designed with a prescriptive approach - available in two different shades, light to medium and dark, suiting every skin tone. The olive undertones mean you won't have to worry about turning an unsightly shade of orange.

We need some lovely ladies of the pale and pasty variety to review some Lee Stafford tanning products for us:

Two reviewers for Brown My Bitz Tanning Spritz, an instant spritz application matt tan that washes off - for face and body.

Two reviewers for Just One Use Tanning Mousse, an instant mousse application tan that washes off - for face and body.

To apply to review Fake My Tan for us, leave a comment below sharing with us your top tanning tip. Please also let us know your whether your skin tone is light, medium or dark.

I would love to try this product.  I have medium skin tone.

In the past I have used Johnsons Holiday Skin Body Lotion.  But this still has that odd smell!

I always exfoliate and moisturise before applying.

i have medium skin tone and find fake tans i use leave bad stains on my hands. recently i have been using gloves i got from one of my medical student friends, other then that if i have to remove stains i use toothpaste... it strips it right off.

I always use baby oil an hour before tanning . My daily routine ' 1. Shower , 2. Baby oil (instead of drying with a towel) 3.Wait and hour ,then tan . 4. Use a strip of cling film for your back . And always remember to use gloves ,I prefer the latex kind ,they last forever ,then I use a little spray bottle mixed with fake tan and baby oil for my face and hands . I get so many compliments on my color and my 2 good friends have even stopped using the sunbeds now due to my technique .It also lasts much longer due to the baby oil ,up to 6/7 days .Especially if you baby oil daily :) I also have very fair skin ,so sunbeds and sun tanning is a no no for me .And the best thing about doing it this way ,no streaks ,no patches ,no dodgy looking elbows ,no 'orange look' no matter how dark your tan product is ,and no dry skin afterwards . (I should also point out I do not want to be picked for the tan ,I have my own favs I would never change ,plus I don't like wash offs ,give it to a girl who really needs it ,I just wanted to share my tip . Good luck girlys :D

If you make an area a little too dark, use lemon juice on some cotton wool and it will lighten it.

Apply a layer of vaseline around your hair line when applying to your face to stop getting an orange tan line.

Also mix some with your moisturiser to keep your tan topped up and even

medium skin,

make sure you exfoliate beforehand , especially on your elbows and knees where there is dry skin, moisturise  and then use latex gloves to apply tan, do not put on after shaving !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously dont!

Agreed (about the shaving) It gets into your pores which gives you the black spotty look (ewww) especially if you have large pores .

my top tip is to make sure you have the highest factor you can afford i always have 30+ on and don't lay in the sun. Sitting in the shade you can still burn. best way to get a tan is fake it  but if you are out and about and do the above you will get a slow even tan over time. as you can guess from the above i have fair skin

my skin tone is light, i would like to review the just one use tanning mouse please in LIGHT shade.  and my top tanning tips are as follows:-

1, exfoliate

2, apply lashings of moisturiser in areas which soak in moisture such as your wrists, knee's, ankles and heels of your feet to prevent these areas soaking in the tan and turning a gastly shade of orange then apply a light layer of petrolium jelly or vasaline to finger and toe nails to avoid your nails from staining.

3,apply a thin layer of facial cleanser around your hair line slightly going into your hair, paying most attention to the sides of your hair around your ears so that once you have finished tanning you can get some cotton wool and wipe it from the start of your hair line inwards towards your hair and this will help the tan fade out in your hair line, giving you a natural look. the reason that this shoud be done is because if you dont you could either end up with an orange streak going all around your head or you could end up with a really noticible white hair line however if you follw my instructions you should end up with neither of those but a tan that should fade out looking natral into your hair line and no-one need know that your gorgeous glow came from a bottle

NEWBIE TANNERS if this is your first time tanning or your trying a new tanning product it's always best to do a skin test .

1st The most important reason of doing this is to make sure you have no allergies to any of the ingrediants and 2nd is so that you can get an idea of what the colour will look like when applied al over and so you can get an idea of the consistency of the product, so i suggest doing a patch test on your stomach or on the top of your thigh or any other area where no one can see.

take care, happy tanning and good luck to all

lots of love from me, stacey x x x x

Apply it lightly and evenly. Do it in daylight so you can see you are rubbing it in properly.  If possible get someone to help do the areas you cant get to or see very easily.

Wear latex gloves when applying fake tan. The texture of the latex will leave you with a smooth finish and the gloves will also protect you from the Orange Hand Syndrome you sometimes get when tanning.

Im natrally quite fair skinned and i used to get so jelous of my golden friends! I never used fake tan before so my friend suggested it, my first few times went horribly wrong and i got orange knees and really big streeks. I experimented and found the best thing is to bathe as hot water opens your pores. For your legs it is best to shave 24hours before hand, exfoliate your body before fake tanning as this gets rid of dead skin cells. Also use a glove to apply your fake tan or it will get inbetween your fingers! If your knees go wrong simply wipe them gently with a clensing wipe and they will lighten! Happy tanning people.

Wearing a uniform all day for work - including trousers and boots - I never tan my legs and always look pasty even in the height of summer.  I would enjoy trying this so at least I could wear skirts - my husband always moans that I never wear anything but trousers!

I have light pasty skin

I have medium skin tone and would love to test this product.

My top tip is to apply small applications of fake tan gradually, if you build the colour gradually not only will you be able to correct mistakes much more easily than if you had slapped half the bottle on, but you also tnd to get a more natural looking, even coverage. Less is more! :D

My skin tone is light, but lucky for me I don't burn when I go in the sun. I normally make a home-made tanning 'ointment' before I tan, consisting of a little olive oil, raw egg and milk. It doesn't smell all that great and I take a bath after a tanning session, but it works wonders for a nice bronze tan. My problem is with my legs though. I can be close to black on the rest of my body and my legs will not show any sign of a tan!!

Always ensure you use after sun or good moisturiser afterwards, Otherwisw the skin dries out and flakes off removing the tanned skin quicker then normal.

I always use fake tan as im very pale and look so ill without it.

At present i am using Garnia but i find it very difficult to find one with a nice smell and the Garnia smells the best so far. So i would love to try any to see about the smell and if the tan goes on ok without any tell tales signs of fake tan mishaps.

I dont use fake tan but would like to, simply as every product (no matter how pricey!) doesnt seem to work evenly and I end up with great streaks.....not a good look.  A real tan is no option for me as I have melonoma.....bring on the best fake tan product yet!!

I am fair skinned. My top tip is to make sure that you exfoliate the night before and then moisturise. The next day i have a shower and then put my tan on with gloves with elasticated bands around the wrist. Before you apply the tan, put moisturiser (only) around hairline, wrists, knees, feet(lots around your feet especially if you have dry feet) and under arms. After you have applyed, use a cotton bud to wipe eyebrows and wash hands just to make sure you have no tanned hands. Perfect tan everytime!!!!
