cosmetic surgery
I had breast augmentation over 8 years ago and i have to admit ,as will my husband, that they are very natural looking and still look just as good as when i first had them done.
I also had my nose done 2 months ago due to suffering with a broken nose for many years and hating my profile with a passion.Having an operation on your nose isn't the nicest experience to go through but so far the difference to my nose is amazing and has left me a very happy lady and wishing that i had it done sooner
Now don't get me wrong, i'm not a vain women that will go to any lengths to stay young, but as i have got older i have been taking more notice of my appearance and try to look after myself as best as i can. What i would like to know is:
Do you agree with cosmetic surgery?
And has any of you had it done and are you pleased with the results
I had a tummy tuck 3 years ago due to losing 9 stone. I ended up with a massive fold of stretched skin which not only looked appaling caused alot of sores and infections.
I dont recommend it unless for serious health reasons as I spent over a month in the critical care unit afterwards. All surgery carries a risk and the bigger the op the more risky it becomes.
i think your just right doing whatever makes you happy. if you really dislike a feature and can afford to go for surgey & also crucially are aware of the complications/risksinvolved then why not. there are so many pitfalls though...i would stay clear of the cosmetic surgery offers and sales based firms. i went for a consultation with one of these companies and found them to "pressure sell"and offering money off for multiple procedures & booking before a certain date.i recommend going to someone who ur GP recommends & who is BAAPS registered. some surgeons list qualification as gmc registered but this actually means nothing all doctors in uk are gmc registered it is not specific to surgeon. also be careful with surgery abroad they have different regulations than ours. id love rhinplasty and tummy tuck. i have always hated my nose from profile and after having a baby no longer have a flat stomach.
i had a breast reduction for both cosmetic and health reasons in 1987 - it changed my life.
I think that cosmetic surgery, if approached with realistic expectations, is a valid personal choice - our bodies are our own to do with as we please. Cosmetic surgery can indeed improve lives enormously, particularly when it impacts on our interaction with others.
Where problems arise, IMHO, is when the underlying problem is psychological and not physical : the patient thinks that surgery will solve their insecurity/loneliness/dismorphism/other , and of course this is not the case - and this is where we see the sad cases of " surgery junkies" arising.
I would love to have a tummy-tuck, as my pregnancies and subsequent weight gains & losses have left me with a "tablier", but I cannot afford it. On the other hand, I would never go for a face-lift, no matter what my aspect, as I find the idea too frightening.
