Anyone else on a bikini blitz?!
Hi everyone,
I'm going on holiday for a week to a Greek Island in May and I cannot wait! We fly out on17th May (at 5.15am, with three kids, ouch) and have a gorgeous villa with a pool. It's our first family holiday abroad ever and we're soooo excited. BUT...
I have a stone to lose before I could even consider wearing a bikini! And I don't want to be panicking about that and not enjoying the holiday. So I'm on a mission to lose it (why did I leave it until four weeks before?!).
Is anyone else in this situation???
My efforts so far:
- cutting out all alcohol on 'school nights' - only had 3 glasses of white on Friday and 2 glasses of red last night (unheard of not to drink wine on Saturday)
- eating a small, healthy breakfast of muesli (rather eating some of the kids' brioches, then getting hungry and having a massive bowl of cereal or some toast at 11am)...
- not having bread and butter on the side of everything and cutting down on carbs.
- joined the local council gym (bargain compared to the big chains) and went on Friday night and then went swimming last night (which was lovely as it was nearly empty)
-walked to work this morning.
Anyone else want to join me in a last ditch 'lose a stone' effort?
Holly
I need to lose about 2 stone but I have to say I am so confused over the whole calorie v carb reduction thing. A few of my friends have been on the cambridge diet and although they got the results they wanted they all said it was awful. I have started my pilates again today and think I will go with they good old fashioned healthy eating smaller portions- oh and not encourage munchies at 11pm as I had a glass or 2 of red!
Hi sarahb, I know the Cambridge diet works for people with quite a lot to lose (like three stone and more) but I'm not sure about people with just a bit to lose... It sounds horrendous to me! Boring as it is, the truth is smaller portions, not too much sugar, fat and salt and lots of water plus staying active is the only real long term way to do it! With the carb v calorie thing, really if you reduce carbs like white bread and cake etc, you're reducing calories too anyway. How do you find pilates? I've always wanted to try it!
Hi todays,
Yesterday I did fall off the wagon a bit and had one bottle of beer - but, on the plus-side, no snacking and no bread on the side of anything! I walked to walk from the station (20 mins) and back again and the same today. Planning on going to the gym tonight, so long as the bedtime procedure doesn't get too dragged out by the little ones!
Little tip about chocolate - if you go for really dark choc (like 70% cocoa upwards) it's not so bad for you, lower in fat, sugar (I think) and fairly low GI :)
Count me in.
I need to lose half a stone at least as my bum's too big for my jeans etc and Ive bought loads of new clothes lately that don't fit as good as they did when i paid for them.
I do have a little problem with chocolate as i can't seem to be able to resist it !
I do alot of walking though and own a professional treadmill that goes like the clappers, although not with me on it.I can only manage a fast-ish walk.
