Anyone thinking of buying the tablets after the trial?
I still can't make up my mind. £40 a month is an awful lot, especially when you're out of work, as I am.
A (straight, female) stranger did say that I looked a lot younger than my age the other day, but in all honesty she was rather drunk!
I've been doing the ping test on the skin on the back of my hand (because I don't see how a supplement taken orally can target one area of the body) and I'm ALMOST sure that the springyness has VERY SLIGHTLY improved. So now I'm really uncertain as to what to do next!
Any thoughts, fellow testers?
Skinlastin : I think u can try skinlastin. It can soften the look of wrinkles and fine lines and enhance the skin's smooth, firm texture.
I am feeling a bit disappointed because me skin appears to have reverted back to 'normal'. Does this mean that the supplement doesn't provide a lasting effect of sorts? In other words, once I stop using it, even for a short period, all the effects gained would be lost? Anyone else experiencing the same?
Very interesting post.
Maquili & Annie's replies were both helpful and informative. Thanks for giving us all such well thought and detailed information for nutrition and potions and lotions. Real "food for thought".
Noone on the trial seems to have posted that they will continue with perfectil - mainly for reasons of cost but also because few of us triallists have noticed real change.
I will definitely try the blackcurrant seed oil as I have chronic arthritis for which have so far had 4 operations and one of these days will have to agree to knee replacements. I cannot take anti inflammatory medication as , although they were prescribed by a rheumotologist, they gave me advanced kidney disease and I must never take them again otherwise I risk dialysis which is a route I hope to never follow. A natural product like blackcurrant could be the answer for me.
I have asked in various forums on this site what are the actual ingredients of Perfectil but have never had a proper reply.Perhaps there are active ingredients which are not right for everyone - on the other hand perhaps the ingredients should do us all good. Who knows?
Certainly the cost of continuing is high when there are so many alternatives as mentionned in some of the replies to this post. I doubt if I will be one of those who does "keep swallowing the tablets."
I must admit that I did get a dispondent towards the end of the trial, as it seemed like the effects had reverted - or maybe I've just been more tired! I'm sitting on the fence re the price of the tabs. I don't believe that the food we buy these days contain the required amounts of vitamins and minerals that we need so a supplement may be necessary. However, at £40... I'm not sure. However, I must add that Neo-Cell Collagen tabs cost about the same price and do the same job and I know lots of people that claim not to be able to live without them. I think I'll wait and see how I look a few weeks after the trial. I guess that would (dis)prove my skin's ability to regenarate with Platinum Plus :-)
these are all very interesting posts! Thanks everyone for looking into it. I have to agree I would not spend £40 for pills that have no noticeable effects other that to cause lots of spots (maybe that's just me). On the other hand I was carded at the supermarket the other day and they refused to sell me wine because I had no ID to prove I was over 25 (I am 36!).
I think nutrition is definitely the anwser and I will look more into that
Being a food and nutrition student I learnt that many foods boost collagen including these below which are omega 3 sources. Essential for collagen is vitamin C which is highest in cirus fruits and leafy green veg. So i think its the multi vit and omega 3 for me.
Sea foods and nuts. Sea foods, like salmon and tuna, are rich in omega fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids particularly establish the ideal environment and condition for the rapid growth of collagen inside the body. Cashew, pecans, almond nuts and Brazil nuts are also rich sources of these acids. Avocado oil, pressed from the avocado fruit, also contains a significant amount of omega fatty acids that help the skin cells regenerate and moisturize.
Soy products. Consume substantial amount of soy products, such as soy milk and tofu. The soybean contains around 38-45% protein. As an anti-oxidant, genistein stimulates nitrate synthesis. Soy products are also a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids. 100 grams of soybeans contain 7 grams of the said beneficial fatty acids.
Hmm - Boots Hair, Skin and Nails - £5.05 for 30; 1 a day - and do you know, I've just been comparing ingredients and apart from the highlighted 5 on the back of the Perfectil pack, they are pretty much the same. I had been taking the Boots supplement for about 8 years and by comparison have not really noticed any difference by taking something that costs 35 quid more! Do those magical, mysterious extra 5 ingredients really cost so much?
Vitabiotics sell Hi-grade Bio-Marine Collagen for £35.49 (on sale right now for £28.95), on it's own it is £14.95 a month.
Pine Bark Extract varies enormously from around £14 for 90 to £30 for the same amount.
Black Currant Seed Oil - 60 for £9.95 - this appears to be recommended for arthritis, funnily enough I am have tests to see if I have arthritis tomorrow - a condition which has only materialized in the past 3 months!
Lycopene Extract - £10.99 for 90, found in tomatoes - good for healthier prostrates!! An antioxidant.
Alpha Lipoic (ALA) - 60 for £14.95 - also an antioxidant.
Right - that's just 10 minutes putting these supplements into a search engine. Prices vary, several can be derived from sensible eating - so no, I won't be spending £40 a month, on a teaching assistant's salary I can't afford it.
